Testing on the iPhone 4

HearYouNow Review 2 I recently tested this app on my new iPhone 5S. It did poorly. But it has come to light that the volume level on the iPhone 5 is lower than that on previous iPhone generations (iPhone 4S, 4, etc). So I am testing the HearYouNow app on my 3 year old iPhone 4. I will post a 3rd review after testing. Apparently all of the hearing "aid" apps have static in the background, which I find annoying. I hope that in the future someone can fix that. I also hope that there will be a way to filter out sudden loud sounds, such as a cough, which can be excessive & painful (especially) when the reason youre using the app is to keep TV sounds to a minimum for a sleeping partner. Am I asking for too much when the app developers are totally dependent on Apples development of the iPhones sound system, hardware & software? Perhaps. But I dont think so. While the app developers are dependent on Apple for quality craftsmanship, Apple is dependent on the developers to bring quality applications to the user. And the user or customer is the one who makes the ultimate decision on whether or not to purchase the iPhone. When I compare the iPhone & iPad apps to the Windows 8 devices & apps (shudder!), I find there is no comparison. The Apple devices & their apps are so far superior to Windows 8, that I doubt Windows will ever catch up. But I believe that Apple needs to improve the iPhone sound system. And the developers need to improve the hearing "aid" apps because none of them are really superior in quality. And when you are dealing with one of the 5 senses, quality is everything.

Crash

Every time I hit the replay button the app crashes and must be restarted. Otherwise works fairly well.

Replay closes app

After installing this app on my iPhone 5 and spending some time testing its functionality, I discovered that tapping the Replay button consistently closed (crashed) this app. I also was disappointed that the apps amplification is insufficient. I tested by setting the volume very low on my TV about 10 feet away so that I could just barely hear and understand the dialog. In Far mode at maximum volume and mid-range at its highest setting, the app amplified the sound just slightly louder than the TV. In Near mode there was no discernible difference. Based on these issues, I can give this app only 3 stars.

iOS 8 Incompatibility

Doesnt seem to work with iOS 8. I try and open but it just keeps force closing. Please fix I use this app a lot.

Excellent, exactly what I hoped for

Bad cold with ride-along ear infection caused temporary hearing loss. Doctor prescribed meds, said wait 5 days -- nada, problem got worse. Couldnt hear well enough to communicate with new doctor. Tried HearYouNow and it works great. At least now I can communicate until I find a doctor good at his/her profession.

A Little Miracle

My mother-in-law is hospitalized. Her expensive hearing aids are adjusted too far down for her to hear conversations. She is unable to go back to the audiologist until her health improves. As an interim solution this app has been outstanding. It allows her to be truly back in the conversation. I havent tried it but believe this would also be an excellent app for those whose hearing doesnt quite work in restaurants with the background noise. Wearing earbuds may look a little quirky but it would be well with it to be back hearing your dinner mates. I love the concept of the app.

Works great.

This helps me to understand things, even better than using my hearing aids in some situations! Suggestion: Add an option to switch to the built in microphone for sound input. This would avoid noise introduction when sitting with earphones as I move around. I could also then aim my phone at who I am listening to.

You cant control the volume

epic fail

Crash

Crashes when used with Bluetooth headset

Too much latency, doesn’t work with bluetooth

It does amplify sound okay, but as with all such apps I’ve tried so far, there is an echo effect due to the latency. I haven’t been able to get this or any other hearing app to pair with my bluetooth headphones, which is probably just as well because I have read that latency with bluetooth headphones is even worse.

Bad

Not worth the time

Works with Grandma

Decided to give this app a shot to talk to my grandma who lost hearing in her right ear and most hearing in her left ear after a stroke. Shouting was frustrating and didnt work well. Popped headphones on her and tried the app- works great! Exactly what I needed. Thank you so much.

Update Needed

Please update software so that the application works with Bluetooth headphones.

Crashes instantly upon opening app

On my iPhone 6S plus

Great!

I love this can hear the sound clearly with no background noise disturbance
